Step 2

Well, you have to decide some things, like just how much you want to copy what I did. READ THE NOTES AT THE BOTTOM.

1. What kind of lights do you want to use?
(I used Hella Optilux 1300s)

2. Do you want to use a kill switch?
(It won't look very good if the lights are all the way up. To make your lights go halfway, you can take out your retractor fuse while they are going down. However, you will have to put the fuse back in to put the lights all the way down. By installing a kill switch, you can simply press the switch and your retractors will shut off. Pressing the kill switch again will turn the retractors back on.)

3. Do you want to install a diode?
(See what I am talking about here. Or you could have no brights and just have all four lights on for regular lights, but that might not be good for the electrical system, I'm honestly not sure.)

4. Are you ready to spend the money?
(Two sets of Hella Optilux 1300 auxiliary driving lights from jcwhitney=$49.00 each+shipping=about $110, Two power diodes capable of handling 20 volts and 15 amps=$6, 12 1/4X20 bolts with a nylok nut for each=free because my dad had them around, kill switch=i already had it installed, 17 inch metal L bar=$5, some decent wire=had some lying around, thats a grand total of $121 for me)

Once you have decided those things you're pretty much ready to begin!

What you need:

Two sets of lights (make sure they fit! my lights were a perfect fit)
12 bolts (all same size)
12 nylok nuts (or some other kind is probably ok)
Electrical Tape
A hand drill
17 inch long metal L bar (they use it for bookshelf support, when you look at it from the side it is an L)
Two power diodes capable of handling the appropriate amount of power (optional)
Wire capable of handling the appropriate amount of power

Notes

- On my setup, the top shroud does not fit. I am probably going to trim it somehow so that it will work with the lights. For now I just keep the top shroud off.

- The exact link where I got my lights here

- The lights I used have replaceable H3 bulbs, so you could replace the stock bulbs with HID ones.

- I don't have instructions for the kill switch on this site. If enough people ask I will put those up too.

- You (technically) could damage your retractor motors, the lights, and your electrical system by doing this modification. I am not responsible if you damage these things. By viewing the directions in Step 3, you are agreeing to this.

- I suppose you could convert it back to the stock look, but I have no knowledge of this procedure. I am sure that it is possible somehow.
